I am sick of hearing the redneck, bogan commentators at WSID every wednesday night.

There is no doubt that the four cylinder late model cars definately show a strong following at the strip, there are probably more 4s there as a percemtage than any other.

Why is it then that the place have hired one track minded commentators who don't know the difference between a S13 and a
series 4 RX7?

It seems that whenever ANY nissan comes to the start line it is always a 'two litre nissan'...even if it is actual fact a V8 slaying, 2.6 twin turbo GTR?

Just last night for example, there was 2 cars that were always lined up next to each other. An RX2 and some old 1930's hot rod... The commontators would all but cream themselves whenever this rod pulled up at the christmas tree and comment on what a fine example of a car it is. Completely ignoring the beautifully turned out RX2 sitting beside it.

Just my two cents on the whole issue. I think if illigal street racing is going to be enticed away from the street to WSID then i think the culture of the sport of legal drag racing needs to change.

For a start they can hire some commintators that know the difference between a Datsun 1200 and an old corolla and don't describe every single import as 'the little 2 litre nissan'.

True dat.
At the nats this year there was a S14 in the burnout comp, he actually ended up winning the 4 cylinder class, but they introduced it as a Nissan Skyline 200ZX.

Is there such a thing? :)

The only modded ones I've seen are hideous rolling chrome displays!

i had a rant anout this on IDA after attending for the first time. Such pearlers include:

Nistan 200sx

Toyota Silvia

and drifting apparently comes from European Japan

at least there was no disrespect like there used to be but still it's pretty piss poor having no knowledge on half your market.

I definatley agree with u guys those fat fuck redneck commentators have to go, it the most annoying thing listening to them introducing always them always as THE LITTLE Charade when really its a EP82 Gt Starlet, half the time they dont have a fuckin clue and they seem to diss the fuck out of imports, at least we drive to the strip and give the V8`s a run for the money they all turn up on trailers with their bogan 2 tonne rust buckets on giant slicks, Heres a idea put some street tires on em and then lets dance boo ya

I think rotating commentators would be good, half the night bogans, the other half next-gen racers... but then can you imagine the comments...

. o O (In the lef lane we have a falco-dore ... and its green... wif sum old bastard driving versus a fully sick series 6, RX7 wif a 3 inch zorst massif front mount and a T4 turbo... I saw dis car at the runs on saturday and it fully ripped it bro. I Spoke to the guy and he said it does 6's bro, and his chick is off the hook man... she has 28C titties, a tight rear end and walks on 3 inch 'lettoes man!!!)... (Hey all u's guys in tha stands, shut the f*#k up le' Im talkin to sum chik man...)

later in the night...
. o O ("Welcom to all the rev heads and hoons, next on the line is I.P Freely.., What the F#@K someone changed this guys name... and where is my f#@kin beer ...any way Freely is driving a completely restored 1952 ford with a 308, listen to the sound of that engine"........bla bla bla..... "and he said I could have a drive"... bla bla bla... "perfect paint"...yadda yadda
" and in lane number 2 is Chris Tostoro.. Tostoro..mop..oliss"........-off mic-"how the hell do you say this name".....-on mic-" err Chris Tos in what looks like a ... nissan 180sx... for anyone in the stands, the 180 must stand for 1.8 litre..............")

okay so I got a bit carried away but you get my drift... at least it gets the people that go to the runs off the street, and into a legal environment.

If you guys are really worked up about it, complain to the management at WSID. Having a whinge here or the IDA forum might feel good but it won't fix the problem.

Ok lets tell them what we think, let them realise what the fans want and that we are no longer a small minority in the motorsport world.
Have you say.
