I was wanting to know what was involved in fitting ABS to a S14a limited.
What parts require changing? and is the wiring already there?

P.S. as i was just explaining to the mangs at nissansilvia.com, YES the S14a limited did no come with factory ABS fitted. Do some research keyboard experts.

This is also not a discussion as to the merits of ABS and how I should just leave it off.

I just want to know what bits are required.

it wouldn't be worth it mate - you'd be better off buying a mid-spec that has factory ABS..

at a glance, you'd need:
The ABS module
The ABS computer
Re-routed brake lines
Sensors at each wheel/brake corner

I'm sure others can clarify if it can be actually done or not..

As I said in my first post this is not a discussion on the benefits of ABS.
I don't often lock the brakes up , just thought I may be able to get a cheap setup from someone who though it was agood idea to remove.

From the list of components and providing my loom has a provision for the ABS computer, I doesn't sound that bad to fit.

If it's worth the effort to fit ABS or not is purely a matter of personal opinion and not what I am after from this thread.

youre gonna get personal opinion regardless.

if you dont want that. go read some service manuals, and they wil have ALL the wiring required, sensors, locations etc etc and they WONT give an opinion.

i rekon youll fail. no because i think youre a dickhead or i dont like you. i just think its too difficult to retro fit it into a car that that never had it in the first place. besides costly.

but its your money and time. and your car too!

but, IF you have an accident after you perform this work. assuming you have insurance youll probably need an engineers certificate to check your work over as thats a massive change to the car. also, if you have an accident and youre at fault and you kill someone. with an engineers certificate for that mod, youll go to jail.

sorry for the personal opinions. but if you stuff it up, youre endangering everyone on the road if its not right.

you need the ecu,the solenoid block, the different master cylinder, different set of front brake lines, the three wheel sensors(two front, one rear),different front bearing hubs, possibly a different diff housing, and an entire body loom,as the plugs are NOT there IIRC.

in short it's a major fucking exercise, and the easiest way to go about it in all honesty would be to sell the car and buy one with abs.

I can sell you some of the parts if you still want to attempt it.
