Fairly pointless post but it'll save a few emails and pm's.

200km/h + brain fade = write off

No pics of the accident site, but basically, hit the kink too fast for the conditions. I turned in but went straight, touched the brakes and had the fronts lock. I know i tried the brakes a couple of times but can't remember if i was still on the track or not by the time i got off and back on them. Slid over 200m of wet grass before ending up in the tyres.

Image
most of the impact was on the passenger side front corner. It looks like the engine crossmember has shifted as the driver side now has a good 5 degrees of camber while the passenger side has none

Image
the impact pushed the base of the a pillar back leaving a nice gap above the front of the window (this is after i loosened the hinges and lifted the door to get it back on the catch).

Image
And a kink above the B pillar

Image
passenger strut tower has been pushed across

Image
radiator support has been pushed back, LCA bent at the castor rod mount. This pic is taken after i wound as much caster in as i could to get the wheel out of the guard

Image
Power steering pump has said hi to the radiator and cracked a pressurised line in the process. radiator is bent but intact, as is the intercooler from the look of it.

Image
That shit'll buff out.

Stuff i didn't get photos of, the engine and box have moved forward an inch and it looks like the tunnel has buckled as the center console no longer fits. Looking at it from the front the engine is not sitting square in the engine bay anymore.

The drivers side windscreen no longer fits properly, it looks like the base of the a pillar has moved by a good cm so there's a gap between the seal and the glass. Same at the top right

Nice dent in the rear quarter from rolling into the tyres after the main impact.

The plus side; other than the strut brace, radiator and intercooler all of my aftermarket parts, engine and box are salvageable (and even the cooler and radiator could probably be reused in a pinch). And my <2k old turbo has survived so i may end up with a 3071 equipped SR in the future...

Always makes me sad to see a ruined car. Bad luck, but what an awesome way to go!!

But look on the bright side: no-one else got hurt, you didn't damage anyones elses car, and you could still probably salvage some of the running gear right?

New project time! 8)

Who said i want to build an SR? I figure a track only silvia will be the cheapest way to get back amongst it and i won't have the dollars to do an engine swap.

I'm ok. Had a pretty bad headache most of yesterday with about half an hour of stuffed vision prior to that similar to what i usually get just before a migraine.

Woke up sore this morning across my shoulders and neck with a couple of spots on my chest and guts where the seat belt dug in and a bit of a headache but that went away pretty quickly.

Thanks to tmb for leaving half way through the day to run me back and helping out with the loading and driving while i was a bit fucked.

Yep, parting it out. The ad's up on SAU now as not much of what i'm selling really suits S cars so i won't put it here

The struts appear to be ok. I'll have to get them out to be sure. Cusco's , 8/6 height and damper adjustable, 4 way front, 8 way rear.

Glad to hear you're ok mate.

Will look for your ad on SAU in case there's anything I might grab.

Condolences Dave, it was sad to see.

It was in the back of my mind the whole day. Even with a capable car+steerer and it can still go wrong very quickly.

Glad to hear you're alright.

MAy it RIP.

Look on the brightside.. I guess You have so many aftermarket parts on that car, that you can easily redeem a small nicely sum for a new car. What would be next? a Silvia? or another Rb?

Probably an s13 or 14 track only nugget.

I'm hanging onto a few bits and pieces that could be used on either.
