lol, yeah you flew past me down the straight!

my car held up pretty good, only a few minor issues. the main thing i was concentrating on was overheating and how my new diff handled.

both passed with flying colours. traction coming out of corners was superb, i was really pleased with it.

ive only got the stock gauge to watch the temp, the highest it ever got was just touching the line furthest away from the 'H'. which i thought was pretty good. as i pushed hard for the whole 20 minute sessions, with no cool down laps during the sessions.

dont know if the s15 dash is much diff but i seen a few 90degree water temps and i dont think the gauge on the dash was much different to normal on my s14 lol, id back off once the water got to 90 and oil was normally just over 90 seemed to take 5ish laps.

what do u guys consider to hot ? i sorta feel like i was over cautious lol will be interesting to compare the temps to when i refit my oilcooler.

anyone know ambient temp. for the day i didnt take any notice :( just seemed nice to me.

the factory gauge is reading temps after it's been cooled by the radiator as does the factory water temp sensor for the ecu so i tend to think low 90's is safe when looking at the pfc handset, on a gauge that reads hot side up to about 110.

oil anywhere up to 130

actually the factory temp sensor (including the ECU's one) is reading the full temperature as the coolant comes out of the head.

It looks like it's on the water pump inlet, but it's actually in a separate coolant passage that recirculates water through the head.
It's basically the same as the main coolant outlet, but it's on the other side.

The reason the factory temp gauge is no use is that it is weighted to the center, so it doesn't really move until the engine is getting too hot.

thanks dumhed and dave

im reading the temp from the ecu's sensor, and im not 100% but makes sense that it is engine temp as the ecu uses it for the tune.

measuring oil in the sump, so would be eg 90 then picked up by oil pump sent to oil cooler (if it was in) then returns to galleries. might get another temp sensor on the cool side of my oil cooler, would be interesting to find out.

Nice work Dave! Top 5 on it's first back out is great. You must be pretty happy with that?

tmb, I noticed they only recorded 11 laps for you. Did you have problems with the car?

it's pretty crap when you consider it did a 22 flat on it's last NA outing.... Still respectable i suppose.

I was happy to drive it back onto the trailer with no major issues.

I didn't even think i got 11 laps in. I had nothing but problems with the car. First session out i couldn't get it into 4th or 5th
Then 2nd session out the engine started showing its age by blowing oil all through the engine bay. That was the end of my day
