A mate of mine has turbo'd his sss pulsar (sr20det). He bought a half cut, but I cant remember wat car it was from.
Anyway, he told me that wen he hits boost his car starts to back fire.
What could be the problem?

I simply said, maybe a complete tune. So dunno...
We are about to install a boost gauge soon to see wen exactly the problem is occuring.

Anyone??

Probably a U13 bluebird engine.
Id be checking the plugs first. Even better put a new set in and gap them at about .8mm.

if its just been installed id put new plugs as riskin said and do a service, oils and fuel filter etc who knows how long that motors been sitting around.

also check that your timing is right and that ur getting enough fuel in there as well.

has it got any other mods like bov or zorst etc?

bov's tend to make motors run a little richer, but shouldnt be doing it when u hit boost most likely when u come off the trottle or when you gear up.

Thanks guys,
he recently got something done for the exhaust, he has still got the original exhaust, but it is larger than stock.
He just got something small that was a must.
It seems as if wen his car hits boost, something is restricting the flow...

If u have a BOV then it could be the plumb back problem... if the plumbing isnt back into ur system then the computer gets confused with the readings and feeds the engine too much petrol... that excess ends in ur cat with a bang...

But dont listen to me.. this info was offloaded to me a while ago and im too K.O'ed to remember...

I just spoke to him again, he says it hits boost becasue he can feel it and he then said it starts to backfire at about 4-4.5k rpm.

EDIT: me thinks the air/fuel ratios are out, too rich too lean?
