directed at all the IT nerds on here - is it possible to track the origin of an email using the header information or the IP address it was sent from? I'm just looking for an ISP or a city/state, nothing more specific than that... possible?? |

tricky, you should be able to get the senders ip address out of the header that they used to send it to their mail server then geo-IP it back to get a location for that IP address, provided that that information hasnt been spoofed (faked)... |

lol.. well this person is claiming some pretty outrageous shit via email to my cousin and he asked me to help him find if the email is originating from interstate or not. I'll get the header and hopefully someone can work it out.. |

another problem could be that the IP you'll find may not be the originating IP. I mean s/he may have used someone's else computer anyhow, check this out, it may be of some help http://www.visualware.com/resources/tut ... email.html |
