you're too old for Pink Floyd even! (I'm assuming you're confusing Rage Against The Machine with Welcome to the Machine)

I got floor tickets for the sydney show

I was just about to ask if it was the best concert of, well, forever! I was gutted that I couldn't go and was hoping to hear amazing things.

You're one of those people that prevented someone who actually understands the importance of this gig from experiencing it.
Before you walk into any stadium/arena style concert you know that sound quality is going to vary from shit to god damn unrecognisable depending on where you are sitting. So having an expectation of hearing some noise is about all you should have.
Now I wouldn't say that I'm the biggest RATM fan out there, not even close, but knowing when you listen to them on a CD, that you are never in your life going to see them play live, only to be given that chance, is something you can't put a price on (90 bucks actually, but thats not the point :P )
Even if you're not a big supporter of the political and social issues they represent, the music is still so powerful in its own right that even those who have no grasp of music, know they're listening to something awesome.
And before you ask, I was in the centre section, three rows from the back in the upperdeck. I could barely make out the band and you obviously know what it would of sounded like. But I was lucky enough to be surrounded by like minded people, who were standing with their fists raised, singing word for word every song. This is probably the defining factor in our experiences, but its still doesn't change the fact you're one of a handful of others to have seen one of the greatest bands to have played live in this country.

Considering where i was seated i thought the sound was pretty damned good.

I was looking downward at the side of the stage and i honestly expected to have the right and left channel that far out of phase i wouldn't recognise the songs. I was pleasantly surprised.

I've been to festivals where if you were off center by more than 10m there were big sound issues.

I liked that there was bugger all banter between songs. They've accepted that either 1) their between song banter is crap so they are better off not doing it or 2) people just want to hear them play.

It was nice to see security giving the guys in the mosh pit water. They never did that back in the day.

And as trashcan has said, you are one of the few who got to see them live. That on it's own is worth the price of the ticket. It was a pretty good show. I've seen better (kings of leon and the strokes at the hordon a few years back is right up there), i've seen worse (the streets at Livid, it was down right pathetic).

I have no complaints about that show, other than i would have preferred a different venue.

I saw them when they toured about 12 years ago, as well as last night. The concert was good, but i think i had expectations that they could never live up to

They were doing that when I was at evanescence last year. throwing bottles into the crowd as well as spraying people. they obviously needed it as I reckon a good hundred people were pulled out of the floor when they passed out and so on,and it didn't even seem like there was much of a crush from where I was on the first tier.

Justin...
