What's with putting cut up stocks over your master and slave cylinders in engine bays? Is it for the attempt to gain significance in the community for doing something different? More hektik?

I'm guessing it's realy a logical situation where the socks are used as a filter? Why would you need a filter on an enclosed Clutch cylinder and Brake cylinder alike?

Anyone got anyidea's? Im really confused :S

i dont think a sock would fit on a slave clyinder. you have a clutch master and a brake master. the slaves are at the other end

anyway, its been explained that they soak up the 'excess' if youre too hektic and it spills over the very tight seal on the lid :P

yeah my power steering fluid leaked a fair bit after the last skidpan day.
But, I feel I am far from being hektik enough to put a sock on it
Plus then I'd have 1 sock left over with 2 feet to cover.

Just chop one foot off then.....

Dodgy under bonnet fire protection. I prefer seeing guys using the heat resistant gloves personally.

There's nothing more cheery than having a power steering reservoir wave at you when you open the bonnet.

I know someone who bought some name brand blue sock thingos for his DC5R reservoirs and I asked him what purpose they served and he couldn't come up with a useful reason apart from doing it for the looks.

Then I said to him that they're a fire hazard - he replies with "nar man they should be fire proof" so I asked him permission if I could get out my lighter and test it and he agreed  guess what the result was.........

when drifting or entering a corner really wide the fluids if filled full can sometimes spill and cause engine fire's the socks soak the fluids before they touch anything hot.. but then again if a fire breaks out the socks be burnt lol
