So i got defected last friday night on Cummbo Hwy, Smithfield. Me and my mate [he has a 180] were cruising down he cumbo hwy and this cops pulls us over for a "Random breath test". As random as it was, we both ended up with defects.
My mate got $79 dollar fine for "bald" tyres on the rear which werent even bald.

Me..... i got a defect for my exhaust [no fine] and a defect for my pod. I also got done for no P plates [own fault, so whatever. $185 bucks and 2 points there. Was going for my gold licence on Tuesday, which i got. Unfortunate timing]

Anyways.... so today i ventured out to get my exhaust tested and it read at 93.6 dB for a 3" exhaust (which is quit considering its size) [Legal is 92dB]. So i spent $250 bucks at liverpool exhaust getting a ghey pea shooter muffler put on to clear the defect, 82.9dB.
Fortunatly i got a standard air filter off Kris [MK] free of charge [cheers for that again!].
$80 bucks for blue slip & defect clearance.

All up : $594 dollars.

(Wikipedia)

200dB -- Rocket engine at 30 m
183dB -- Blue whale humming at 1 m
163dB -- Windows break
150dB -- Jet engine at 30 m
130dB -- Threshold of pain; train horn at 10 m
120dB -- Rock concert

So your car exceeds the threshold of pain... :P
I can hear it coming on Bathurst street of a morning... and you're crawling along in traffic. Yeah come to think of it, it's amazing you haven't been pulled over for that!

peak hour traffic - cops dont like it.

plus im moving around and through differernt streets they wont be able to catch me. no i dont mean speeding, its just chockers and they wont be able to get through

anyway, when the time comes ill put a quieter exhaust back on. keep this one for the drift days and dyno events :P

or just get a silencer for it for the rest of the times.

Yep, I like my 'it's completely stock' (well... comparatively unmolested) engine bay, it's boring and no one cares :)
Touch wood, they will continue not to care, though she is a little loud at full tilt, not like Zei I could hear coming about a suburb over idling along, you probably should dampen it down because it will damage your hearing over time. Nissan KH3 Super Black makes everything look stock, intercoolers are best done in exhaust paint, it's extremely hard wearing, doesn't need a primer and lasts forever

Glad you got your notices cleared without too many hassles Sarah.

Zie, i think i need to hear your car some time, 140Db thats nuts i think my X-force is around the 96db mark, and i thought that had a decent note.

i am yet to pay my two fines for being defected comming out of the petrol stration a while ago. i will have to pay them this week sometime i think, $160 gone down the drain. ohwell ive enclosed my airbox now so that should be fine, but the BOV is staying, i like my star wars BOV. :D

Yes it wa fairfield coppers. When i asked why we were pulled over the cop said .. and i quote.. " We have been ordered to target imports and modified cars, this is thanks to the di*khead that killed those couple awhile back".

Neways... just got my blueslip done. Only cost me 50 bucks.. so that lowers my overall charge by 30 bucks. woohoo for me.

RTA time tomrrow morning and defects fully rectified.

Neone wanna buy a nice sil80 :P
