The thing that is the biggest bugbear for me is that this new "law" has come about with ZERO consultation of the industry that it affects the most.

As some of you will know, i work as an angineer for a suspension company, and this came as a big suprise to most of the people in the aftermarket suspension industry when it was released last week.

These changes will have an impact on the jobs and livelihoods of all employed in this industry along with the way we modify and enjoy our cars.

Feel free to get in touch with the honorable Michael Daley MP office@daley.minister.nsw.gov.au if you have any thoughts on these changes or being labelled a 'Hoon' because you have lowered your car 10mm.

Basically they are making it prohibitively expensive and regulated (as everything else) to do anything to our cars... They are just putting "hoons" in standard cars that handle worse. LOL. more accidents!

Isnt it interesting that almost all the fatalities you see on the news involve commodores and/or falcons

look the reality is this - As always the minority (read into that what you will) have ruined it for the majority. Not to put a too finer point on the issue but people driving around in dangerous shit boxes with cut or no springs, busted ass shocks and 20 china chromies are the root cause of this issue. Its not the guy driving around in the mildy modded import causing this reaction.

This is a typical knee jerk reaction by the authorities in effort to keep some 'noisy' people in the community quiet. Its like speed cameras, red light cameras, hoon laws etc its all about perception and making it appear like the government (at whatever level - State, federal, police, RTA) is doing something (perception again) about the problem (whatever that problem may or may not be).

If (and thats a fucking huge IF) this law is policed properly then I think it has the chance to do well more good then harm. The reality is it will be used by the increasing friendly HWP to pick on young car enthusiasts to rid our streets of 'dangerous' hoon vehicles.

Taking my above point one step further I challenge you guys to name a car that handles better (all things being equal) once its been lowered more then 50mm from the factory. Sure they are out there but they are in the minority.

PS. In addition to the lowering aspect I am also right behind cracking down on dangerously jacked up 4x4's. I have owned several 4wds and one was raised 2" with slighter larger tyres but when I see these oversized freak shows with 5" suspension lifts, 3" body lifts and 4" extra inches of tyres (mud terrains of course, just wait till its wet and ask them to stop in an emergency - good fucking luck) I often wonder how they can be legal and pass a rego check every year.

The "honorable" minister is copping some flack from this in the opinion pages in the telegraph

"I strongly resent being called a hoon I'm 45 years old and well over thinking I'm 3m tall and bulletproof, I own a modified 4wd which I use for work and to travel around aus to take photos of remote locations.
Transport Minister Daley has only given 15 days notice and given there is a long wait to see an RTA engineer 15 days is inadequate, I find it difficult to express how strongly I feel about the injustice of these laws, Mr Daley is a public servant not a god" Wrote one man.

Is there any way that industry/public can kick up enough of a stink that the decision gets reversed? There will be alot of job losses in the automotive industry due to this.

WON'T SOMEBODY THINK OF THE JOB LOSSES?

Pity the petition looks to be written by someone who is borderline illiterate, doubt anyone will take any notice.

The root of the cause are the people described in the law.

Attention seeking children in sex spec cars and people who forgot to grow up
