I took my car to nissan yesterday to get it serviced because it kept stalling whenever i stopped.

They serviced it and replaced my melted o2 sensor.

I get a phonecall about 4 oclock saying they need my car over night because there is a vacuum leak that they cant find, i told them that id come down anyway and c if it was fixed by closing time.
I arrived at 5 and my car was out side ready to go no probs.

Drive away and my car is still stalling, great service nissan!!!!!

I fixed the prob tonight by tightening up my bov took me 20 min....

good on ya,blame the dealer for not adjusting your aftermarket blow off valve which was causing an air leak. they're supposed to know all about aftermarket mods now too are they?

you fitted it,it's your fault, not theirs.

couldnt have put it any better myself.

They are not normally familiar with everything.
specially if you have a BOV in the factory location which is pretty well hidden.

Get the right dealerships however and you would be very suprised Ill garrante it.

I don't work for nissan, but so what? does that make any difference?

did you mention to them that you'd altered the intake system? did they say ANYTHING about the BOV? did you allow them to test drive the car to try and diagnose the problem? did you go back and tell them that the problem was still there? did you give them a chance to repair it? Why did you insist on going down there and picking the car up when they called and asked for more time to track down the concern? Did you really want it fixed at all?

the general dealership position with aftermarket gear is that the onus is on the customer to make sure it works properly. if it doesn't,you go back to THE PLACE THAT FITTED THE PART.
it's not up to the dealer to fix your cb radio because it's poor installation causes the car to keep blowing the dome lamp/cig lighter fuse.

now, your BOV was leaking, which caused the problem, and that part was fitted somewhere else by someone else. now,if nissan can diagnose and fix that, great. but if not,it's not their fault, they're supposed to repair cars to their factory specs. some dealers are better than others,as riskin has said, and that's a bonus, not something to be expected.

what I want to know is this: why didn't you take it back to the place that fitted the BOV for you? if it was bad enough a leak to stall the car, surely you'd have noticed as soon as the job was done, and you took the car out to hear the fully sik pishing noise right?

if you fitted it yourself, why did you take it to nissan, wouldn't taking the car to a performance workshop, that deals with this sort of gear all the time have been a better idea?

Well when i pick up my car and its got an extra 10kms on it than when i left it there, id say they had a fair idea that it has an after market blow off valve.
Id say that in the last 5 years the nissan dealers would have had a number of silvias go in there for service and im sure im not the first to have an aftermarket blow off valve.

Also the people that work at nissan service are supposed to be mechanics arent they, and mechanics fix cars dont they.....duh
And to the point of me goin down there, It was still and hour or so before closing time and i said that id go down there in case it was ready, i didnt tell them that i wanted the car back straight.

Why would i take it to a perfomance shop when it was stalling i didnt know that i had a vacuum leak im not a mechanic...

So before you go making all these fully sik assumptions how about you ask for more info first...

And to me taking 20 min to tighten my bov i had to pull the battery out first.....

It doesnt matter If you go there just to check up they perceive that as "I want the car back" full stop. They told you it has a vacum leak we need more time can we keep it over night? Yet you still go there even when they say it wont be fixed?

Guess ill bring it to the nissan dealer you work at next time so you can explain things like this to me...

im serious too, if you pm me where you work so i wont have this prob next time thanks....

I didnt expect such negative reaction over me explaining my prob, i guarantee if it was anyone else they'd be annoyed too.

That's such a shit whinge about Nissan.

I live in Chatswood, and the Nissan service place closest to me broke 2 pieces of my factory interior trim then disavowed all knowledge of it.

They changed the oil just fine though.

(This was quite a while ago clearly, I take it to Pro-Concept now.)

i went to a large dealership for a warranty repair (but i was told it wasnt covered - long story)

they put 14ks on the car, smoked in it, dropped ash on my seat, played with my stereo and changed settings, then said it wasnt them. no one there smokes

i was totally pissed. hence why i do all my own work if at all possible.

however, any aftermarket parts would make it hard to diagnose a problem for a factory dealership
