unfortunately tonight i was involved in an accident. i was going down yarrara rd in pennant hills and someone pulled out infront of me to turn right coming out of hillscrest rd.

got the police report done, the other guy was at fault bla bla bla the cars been towed as it doesnt move anymore.. damage is to front left side of car. luckily all engine components seem FINE, engine still runs perfectly - only the pod filter has been mashed. suspension wise left side strut looks mangled, and i would assume associated arms and such would be too, and the chassis rail and body work including bonnet and left gaurd, front bar is also mangled nicely, and lights.

now, i dont know where to go from here. i dont want it to get written off because i believe (?) i only get market value for car, and all the mods mean nothing in value and go with the car when they take it from me. will nrma (other guys insurer) pay for it to be repaired if i wanted to do that, even if they say its a write off ? should i bother repairing it with this sort of damage ?

and most importantly can anyone recommend someone decent for me to take it to to get these repairs done, someone who has experience with our cars

as a side note, some people were very concerned and asked if we were all ok and if we needed any help, but what made me tick was some dickheads in a falcon drove past and laughed out loud at me   who the fuck does that ??

Sorry to hear about the accident mok, sounds like your okay though.

I presume you have third party insurance, first thing is you should look for a few nicely priced quotations on repairs if they say its repairable. You will be payed out and you will need to organise the repairs, if you ahve full comp, they do the chasing and work for you.

hey mate sorry to hear about the accident.

check your insurance papers as i had a bad accident 2 years ago and they state on my papers that "if the damage cost equals 65% the vechiles market value, then it will be deemed as written off"

good luck with it however it goes.

Harry

The only time it would be written is if you have it assesed by your insurance company to have it repaired by them, if you persue it through his insurance than they will pay you for your claim which you have submitted from two to three quotes pending on who was deemed responsible for the accident. Don,t expect these proccedures to happen very quickly

A friend of mine was hit twice in two months. Both times the other driver was at fault. As mentioned I also understood that the at fault insurer can't write you off. Most insurers require you to get two quotes for repairs if it's not one of their preferred repairers. My friend found it very hard to get the first of the two quotes on his 200zr. If the car is deemed a total loss they will pay you out market value for the car and you will get to keep the wreck, possibly for a small fee.

Don't wait to hear from them. They will not be ringing you to pay you out. They will wait as long and make it as difficult as possible. Call them at least once a week.

Sorry to hear about your acco mate. It's sad that you can be the best driver around, but still be screwed by someone else not paying attention.

make it once a day at least :P

I started off with once a week, moving on to once a day, and it still took 4 months to get a single cent out of NRMA when a guy ran into me.
Now, 18 months on and I still only have a pile of parts....

yep, police reports, quotes (I had to drag the car around and send them quotes to even get anything to happen at all), etc.

There were complications with repairers and stuff, but in the end the insurance people were the biggest problem.

i had to deal with allianz for my pay out. I decided to call on a daily, sometimes two times per day, and it took 3/4 weeks FFS.

Write down all details of all phone conversations, who you spoke with and what time and what they said/promised.

Reasons why my payout was delayed:

*Assesor failed to fax through his report apparently three times. (i called the assesor himself, he faxed it three times and was getting shitty himself)
* The fax machine at the office was malfunctioned, a few times
* Waiting for paper work to go through, money should be paid tomorrow (one week later it was..)
* Paper work on my side needed to be filled out and faxed through..
