Well i've got an lead acid odyssey 650 on my car atm (the really really small one)

Well i've noticed that if i dont start my car up every day or 2 that the battery seems to go dead.

Like for example today. Didnt start the car for about a day and a half so i go to start it up to go somewhere and car just wouldnt turn on >.<. Eventually got it running after a couple of minutes.
So does this mean i should get a new battery or? And is there anyway knowing when the battery will die permanently?
Cheers

mate if i were you ill just go buy a new battery. a bigger one too, i wouldnt bother with batteries that arent reliable. it doesnt cost much for a new battery anyways. most people i know just get the biggest battery they can fit in their battery tray.

saves you the hassles and youre sure to know itll last you in the long run.

i had the same battery in my S15 but never had a drama with it (no aftermarket electronic things in it), however when i had my 180 i had the next size odyssey up, and if i didnt start the car every 24 hours, it'd be dead as a tack (but i did have alot of aftermarket electrical stuff installed in the car...)

Sorry but this will be really vague....A mate of mine owns a Skyline and he has this thing that he clips on to the battery when he's parked in his garage.

It plugs into the powerpoint and always keeps his battery above a certain voltage so that he'll never have any problems starting it.

And no, it's not a charger.

650's dont have the best rep, apparently the 800's are much better.

you might also find this interesting.

Theres no real reason a battery should just cark it that quickly unless there is a draw comming from somewhere in the car.
Usually aftermarket stereo's and amps are the main culprit where some bodge has hooked it up to the wrong rail... Or the car is drawing too much power to properly charge the battery when its being driven either points to an alternator problem or usually a stereo/amp that is pumping out ear-bleeding levels of current draw than the rest of the car can't sustain.

But to fix it, either requires huge amounts of money and a competent auto electrician to un-fuck it all or to dive in there yourself with a multimeter and find out where all the power is going when the car isnt.
Thats kind of a black art though.

Personally I pray to satan while smearing small furry animals over my front bar at high speeds in the hope that nothing electrical goes to shit that I cant fix and so far it seems to be working pretty well.

Well atm theres nothing really major on the electrical side.
Only the turbo timer is electrical and stock s15 deck.
So im buggered.

Im also about to put in a full system in the car as well :-?
I'll post up a pic of the battery in the engine bay. If im able to get a battery that will fit, im happy to purchase a new and reliable one but yea here goes!

Bought an 800 recently, and havent had a problem with it.

I was interested in the 650 and the sales guy said to only buy it if i like my car not to start. Basically they are way too underpowered for a car.

Erm yeah, it looks like a UPS battery with a tarted up paint job or at best a large motorbike battery.
Basically this type of animal is best suited to a race vehicle where they dont stop-start all the time and have bugger all power draw for more than just the basic systems.

have the same problem with my odyssey battery, i think its the same size as yours as that is the only one that i can in my engine bay cause of the cooler pipes

i have been told that my 180 is constantly drawing positive power and that if i am going to leave my car turned off for over 10 hours then to take the positive terminal off everytime just incase the battery goes flat so id say your having the same problem as me

2 options, by an odyssey 800 series battery as the guys above have stated it does the job fine, or find out where the positve power leak is coming from and work from there

Yeah that's the one.

It might be an option for Odyssey battery owners out there.

When my battery drops below a certain voltage my alarm turns on the engine and charges it up. Its pretty wicked.

I was told you will void the warranty if you use an Odyssey 650 in a s14 /15 as they are too small even though they have enough cold cranking amps.

I went for an 800 which just seems to start the car after not using it for 6 days.
