The APEXi pods are as washable and reusable as the factory filters. People do it but it is not advisable. They can be damaged during the cleaning process, even by compressed air cleaning.

So how do you wash em?....

You don't. You replace them. If you only drive around on sealed roads, you might get 40,000km out of one.

Unfortunately APEXi pods are about three times as expensive in Australia as they are in Japan.

yeah i was told the stainless steel filter is good for track but for street not as good due to the fact it doesnt filter as good as the blue Blitz pod.
but the stainless steel allows better flow and much louder

Hehehe, I read this thread b4 when it came up in a search.

So, 2 year's have passed. What are ppl using now ?

And how have your filter lasted during that time ?

Would u still use it again ?

Dumhed & Simota, I'm shocked.

I've considered the Simota as they're cheap enough to change to a new one every 10,000kms, or sooner.

Dirty filter = good ? Since the element is filtering the dust particles.

ive got the apexi and the only complaint from me is that the induction noise isn't loud enough!!

they filter great and afaik they can be washed, you can use the K&N cleaning kit, mines turned darker from all the hardcore filtering it's done so it's probably time for me to wash it

Expensive yes but worth it!

still using the blitz pod.

have cleaned it twice in the 2 years, just pulled it off, use the air compressor to blow all the shit out, then a little like brush to get off all the sticky gunk that wouldnt come off and its as good as new

have you had a look at the turbo compressor blades?

I'd be interested to see what sort of condition they're in.
I've seen one lately with a few little marks in the compressor after running a K&N filter, which kind of confirms my thoughts on the filtration ability of the single layer fabric elements in those.
The stainless filter should keep the larger particles out reliably, but it's not going to stop the really small dust particles, which can gradually wear down turbo blades, rings / bores, and find their way into the oil over time.

can you elaborate? Im taking it from your post that you can't use the K&N cleaning kit - Im more curious about what makes you say that? Will it damage my apexi? or is there a technical reason why I shouldn't wash it with the K&N kit such as something chemical perhaps?
