Hi all,

I currently have a mechanical LSD in my 180 which is used as a daily and will be used for time attack in the near future. The car is worth too much as it is only able to be insured for 10k so if it gets stolen I will be cut. I am thinking about pulling out this LSD and replacing it with my old viscous LSD to lower the cost a bit.

Will a standard R200 viscous LSD be good enough for time attack or will it open wheel after a few laps? I only plan on doing a track day every month or so but still want to get the best time possible. Im also very into drifting so might be oversteering slightly coming out of corners as its what I am used to.

Up to about 180rwkw you will probably get away with a viscous if it is in good condition.

Above that it'll likely start open wheeling on the inside.

That said, I'm pretty sure s13deviat is still running a viscous in his at around 200rwkw with no major problems

I have recently gone from the viscous to a mechanical diff and the difference on the track is amazing. Power output is 190 ATW. If you go the other way you won't be very happy I reckon.

I agree with Adam. You might want to consider making the car a little more secure rather than lowering it's specification.

Add a paging alarm if you don't already have one,fit a couple of kill switches, and if you really expect trouble, maybe invest in a wheel clamp and fit that when it's parked on the street.
