i rang them about the missus car on friday..... and no they don't do third party, only comp. - they did give a really good quote on that though. You should give them a call, you might find you can afford comp afterall.

I got my insurance with them today.
Car - S15 2001
Mods - Chip + Exhaust
Agreed Value $40,000
%60 NCB
Me - 25 Years
1 speeding fine in the last 5years
Premium $2000 with $500 excess

Currently with Dawes, $2800.
The good thing about Famous is you can pay by credit card and Dawes would only except cheque or EFT.

Pretty happy with that, spoke to Tommy who helped me out.

i hope mine isnt too much higher than that.

ill call them tho

whats my membership number? lol other people have been asking

mayhem how do we get it?

Well when I went for the Dawes policy, my record was 5 fines, 4 15 and over 1 30 and over.
License cancelled for 3 months.
Since then I visited the RTA, paid $15 for piece of a paper that showed my record.
Lucky for my it showed I only got on fine in the last 5 years.
So you should get roughly the same deal, but then again you do have the issues you currenly are having, but hopefully you will have these resolved soon and to your favour.
Good Luck.

Yeah, he is a champ :)

P.S. I dont think a car alarm makes a difference on their polices, cause I told them I got mine, and it didn't make a difference :(

Yeah he did not even ask about the mods or alarm.
He just said the mods need to be legal and then it is fine by them.
The application was done online and approved in less then 5 minutes.

Thanks! Luckily i have a letter from CGU stating that due to the blah blah bullshit they can view the incident as if the policy never existed. So therefore that puts me back at 65% NCB and no at fault accidents

so at least i have that in my favour!

Hi,

I am in the processing of taking out a policy with Famous.
Be careful guys, they do require a 3-point immobiliser!
They didn't tell me this when I got the quote but I later phoned and checked with Tommy and he said definitely a must!

good company though! I think they will make some serious dollars as they are give us young guys a chance by providing reasonable prices and allowing legal mods.

just make sure you don't have to claim! And if you do, follow everything that happens, every tiny step of the way - because them being in Perth does make for some major communication issues.
I'm still dealing with stuff months after my claim was apparently settled...

OK I will try my hardest not to make a claim but if I do have to, I guess thats why I got insurance.

Thats like saying try your hardest not to have a accident :-?

And you would be pretty silly these days not to have at very least 3 point imobiliser.

A mate just took out Insurance with Famous also, as Dawes wanted more $$ for his mods, so they can GFED.
Famous however has increased substanially from when MYS15T has taken his poilicy out.
He's up for $2400
NCB 60%
0 claims 0 infringements
Mods-kit, zorst, FMIC, wheels.
S15

It is however $1000 basic excess, and $1000 for theft.
Also beware, agreed value is BS unless you have had it valued. If the car goes bye bye, expect only market value. Dunno how it works exactly and hope it doesnt go that far either.

Dawes this year wanted around $2600-2700 plus as he has modded it, they wanted another $250 from now till rego due in like 2months. So Dawes would have cost him up to $2900.

Speed magazine (GTR front cov) has a listing of insurance comps that do modded vehicles, I rang every single one for a under 30 driver. The closest was around $2500. Shannons was $2800, cant recall the rest. So for NSW S15 drivers, prepare for to save save save.
I so hate insurance companies, not one company pays an incentive for people who NEVER have claimed, its obvious, some of us really take care of our cars, and never claim. They state that they gear to suit individual needs, but realistically we are all F CKING statistics. Grrr insurance.

And apparently we cant give this info out. But I'm just writing this on behalf of some one else..
