3/4 inch think MDF is the prefered wood. Do you want ported or sealed? It may seem like it is easy to build a box, but to do one proply it takes effort. For ported, you want 1 cubic foot volume, for tight bass. 1.5 cubic foot for normal bass, and 2 cubic foot for deep bass. The port varies to the volume inside the box, not the diplacement of the speaker. For 1.5 cubic foot the port is 3.5 inxh diametre by 7 inch i think, cant remember the other 2.

For sealed...0.5 cubic foot for tight bass, 1 cubic foot for normal bass, and 1.5 cubic foot for deep bass.

Have you considered a drone cone? You have 1 sub and one speaker of the same size without a magnet. Naturally the other speaker compensates for what the sub does and makes very low frequency noises. Very efficent.

People say that it is not good to use cyloclone in the boxes, but it is fine. Just make sure the clone is completly dried. With some subwoofers i think it voids warrenty to use it near the speaker.

I have all the measurements of the boxes which give different cubic feet, and all the port sizes, etc. If you can wait till sunday i can post everything up then.

There are a few different variations of how to construct the box. I would say to use alot of screws if you are going to do sealed as there is alot of pressure inside the box, the litrally collapse if they are not constructed proply. I forgot their name but in the box, where there are 90 degree angles, nail and glue in small long blocks of wood. Seal all of the inside with silicone so you dont get any airleaks. Use pillow stuffing inside the box to add to the sound the box makes and to reduce the airspace inside the box.

Its also good to paint the box, helps any air leaks. The box shouldnt be a cube or rectangualar prism. The vibrations the sub makes will bounce back off the opposite wall and will affect the way it opourates. You want angles. The 45 degree one, anything. Preferably you dont want any 90 degree angles inside the box either. If you were going to do a cube, you times one length by 2, its like cutting it in half corner to corner and screwing it on the side.

But as i said, i can get all measurments to get different cubic feet, what size port for how many cubic feet, etc, etc on sunday

theres a program that calculates the dimension needed for the prefered volume of air needed for the sub.
BUT
i dont know what its called lol so guess you could try google search for something similar

Might be true Zei, but he's not the only person that's interested in this information

This type of info is very good for anyone looking at swapping Subwoofers, planning on a new system, or who has gotten a new car and looking at stereo systems, demensions, etc.
